Working in corporate America, I chose to regularly wear my Chicago tie to work and different meetings. People were interested, and always found a reason to comment on his custom tie, even random people on the street. I found that it was a great conversation starter in an otherwise sterile environment.

But I realized something more important- I like hats, why not put the flag on a cool trucker snapback? With that, International Tie went from, well, ties to hats. We started with the Chicago flag hat, but soon moved to state flags, country flags, among others. Despite the name “International Tie” we moved on to hats and now no longer even sell ties.

In a short time we went from a boutique tie shop to designing 100+ hats that we shipped all over the world. We were founded in Chicago as a side-hustle, but due to my corporate job, the business moved from Chicago to St. Louis, and then to the Bay Area in California. And finally, we moved from California to Madison, Wisconsin, where we are currently building out our production facilities. To date, we have estimated to have sold 300,000+ hats. Also, in 2021, International Tie went from a small-side hustle to my full time job, with a healthy staff.
